Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to take responsibility for planning, organising, and supervising kitchen operations. This is a senior culinary role requiring strong leadership skills, independent decision-making ability, and sound commercial kitchen experience.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Planning menus in consultation with management
Estimating food and labour costs and assisting with menu pricing
Ordering and maintaining appropriate stock levels of food supplies
Preparing and cooking a range of dishes to a high standard
Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
Demonstrating cooking techniques and advising kitchen staff on preparation procedures
Supervising and coordinating activities of cooks and kitchen staff
Ensuring portion control and minimising food wastage
Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety regulations
Assisting in maintaining kitchen records and cost control systems
Essential Requirements
Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery (Certificate III, IV or Diploma)
Minimum three (3) years full-time relevant work experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen
Demonstrated experience preparing multi cuisine dishes including Indian and Asian curries
Experience in menu planning, cost estimation and kitchen supervision
Strong understanding of food safety standards and compliance requirements
Ability to lead a kitchen team in a fast-paced environment
