Skala Bakery, located in Port Adelaide, South Australia, is seeking a skilled and qualified Chef to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our production kitchen, you will be responsible for planning, preparing and presenting high quality food items, ensuring consistency, efficiency and compliance with food safety standards while supporting daily kitchen operations.

Task & responsibilities

• Plan and oversee daily production schedules for Skala Bakery’s pastry and baked goods range, ensuring timely preparation for wholesale and retail distribution

• Prepare, bake and finish a variety of pastries, cakes, laminated dough products and specialty baked items in accordance with Skala Bakery’s established recipes and quality standards

• Develop and refine seasonal menu items and specialty products to support product innovation and customer demand

• Monitor consistency in texture, flavour and presentation across high volume production batches

• Calculate ingredient quantities for large scale production runs and manage portion control to reduce waste

• Supervise and coordinate production staff during preparation, baking and finishing processes

• Ensure strict compliance with food safety standards, HACCP procedures and workplace health and safety requirements within the production facility

• Inspect raw ingredients upon delivery and maintain proper stock rotation within the bakery storage areas

• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, ovens and preparation areas to support efficient workflow


Qualification & experience

• Certificate IV in Patisserie or relevant qualification

• Minimum one year demonstrated experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen or production bakery environment

• Strong knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen compliance requirements

• Ability to work efficiently in a high volume production setting
