New Brilliance Pty Ltd trading as Jaathara is seeking a passionate and skilled Chef to lead kitchen operations at our Indian restaurant in Docklands, Melbourne. The Chef will prepare, cook, and present dishes with high standards of taste and quality, creating an exceptional dining experience for guests. The Chef will manage food preparation, maintain hygiene and safety standards, oversee inventory and stock control, and guide kitchen staff to perform efficiently. Applicants should have strong culinary expertise, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to consistency, creativity, and service excellence.

Benefits

Salary range: $77,000 per Annum + Superannuation.

Task & responsibilities

• Responsible for planning and developing a standard menu for lunch and for dinner.    
• Will consider the labour and food costs in all estimations and work with the Management in developing menus.     
• Responsible for planning and developing the specials on the menu as required.   
• Monitoring and ensuring quality is always maintained in the preparation and presentation of dishes as per the menu.  
• Always supervise junior cooks and kitchen staff on cooking techniques and procedures. 
• Developing and preparing food to meet special dietary requirements as per customer requirements if required.    
• Training other kitchen staff and apprentices and junior staff as per requirement.   
• Comply with the OH & S guidelines while working in the kitchen.

Qualification & experience

• Minimum of three to four years’ experience working in the kitchen is required. 
• Certificate qualification in Commercial Cookery is required.
• Diploma will be preferred.
