Plate 8 Café (GC & KO PTY LTD) is looking for an experienced and reliable Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis ASAP.

Located in Welshpool, Plate 8 Café is a busy local café known for serving fresh, generous breakfast and lunch dishes to a steady flow of customers each day. 

Our menu focuses on quality ingredients and house-made meals, with a mix of breakfast favourites, hearty lunch dishes and daily specials.

Our kitchen prepares a wide range of dishes including fresh pastas and lasagnas, curries and comfort meals, gourmet salads, grilled items and popular breakfast and brunch favourites.

We are looking for a chef who enjoys working in a fast-paced café environment, takes pride in the food they produce and works well as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Planning, preparing and cooking a variety of homemade dishes and daily specials
  • Ensuring consistency in food quality, presentation and portion control
  • Assisting in menu development and contributing ideas for seasonal dishes
  • Supervising and coordinating kitchen staff during service
  • Managing food preparation and kitchen workflow during busy service periods
  • Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering ingredients and supplies
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health standards
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment

Work Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • Monday to Friday (5 days per week)
  • Service hours: 5:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Breakfast and lunch service only
  • Closed on weekends and public holidays

 

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Chef in a busy café or restaurant environment
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume kitchen
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Sound knowledge of kitchen operations and food safety standards
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Salary

Salary range: $75,000 to $77,500 + superannuation, depending on experience.
