Description:

SIJUBE PTY LTD trading as Melt Pizzeria is seeking a dedicated and reliable Cook to join its kitchen team. The Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of menu items including signature pizzas, tapas plates, salads and desserts. This role involves preparing ingredients and cooking dishes fresh in-house each day, ensuring food is consistently presented to a high standard.The Cook will involved in preparing a range of share-style tapas dishes, support daily kitchen operations, maintain food safety and hygiene standards, and keep the kitchen clean and organised. They will work closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service and deliver a quality dining experience for guests. Previous experience in a similar role and a passion for good food are preferred.

Task & responsibilities

• Examine and select fresh ingredients to ensure the quality and consistency of all dishes.
• Prepare and cook a range of menu items including pizzas, tapas plates, salads and desserts in accordance with Melt Pizzeria’s recipes and standards.
• Prepare and cook share-style tapas dishes fresh in-house daily, ensuring flavour, portion size and presentation meet restaurant standards.
• Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment to ensure food is cooked correctly and safely.
• Season and cook food during preparation to achieve the required taste and quality.
• Portion and plate dishes, adding sauces, garnishes and accompaniments for service.
• Store food in temperature-controlled facilities and follow proper food handling and stock rotation procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and comply with food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Assist with estimating food requirements, preparing ingredients for service and supporting efficient kitchen operations.

Qualification & experience

• Minimum of Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent or equivalent work experience. 
• Minimum 1 year of experience in related field.
• In-depth knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen operations. 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
