Hotel or Motel Manager

As Hotel / Motel Manager, you will organise and control the operations of the motel to ensure efficient delivery of accommodation services and a high level of guest satisfaction. The role involves overseeing reservations and front office activities, coordinating housekeeping and property maintenance, managing suppliers and purchasing activities, and ensuring compliance with relevant operational and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee reservations and reception activities, including managing bookings, guest enquiries and check-in/check-out procedures to ensure smooth front office operations.
• Coordinate housekeeping functions to maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation across all motel rooms, cabins and guest areas.
• Supervise property upkeep including building maintenance, outdoor areas and gardens to ensure the premises remain safe, functional and well presented.
• Monitor security arrangements and ensure appropriate procedures are in place to safeguard guests, staff and the motel premises.
• Assess guest satisfaction through feedback and reviews, respond to complaints professionally and implement service improvements where necessary.
• Oversee purchasing and inventory management including linen, guest amenities, cleaning supplies and operational materials required for motel operations.
• Assist with financial and administrative tasks including maintaining operational records, monitoring expenses and supporting accounting and reporting processes.
• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and maintain safe operational procedures throughout the property.
• Maintain organised digital and physical documentation including operational procedures, supplier records and compliance documentation.
• Provide guests with information about local attractions, tourism services and transport options, and assist with arranging local activities when requested.

Qualifications and Requirements

• A minimum of Diploma in Hospitality management or related field.
• At least one year of relevant experience as a Hotel or Motel Manager or in a similar role and performing similar duties.
• Strong organisational and leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage daily motel operations.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills with a strong focus on guest satisfaction.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple operational responsibilities in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
• Proficiency with booking/reservation systems and standard office software including Microsoft Word, Excel and email platforms.
• Registration or licensing may be required depending on operational responsibilities.
