Hendriks Cafe is seeking an experienced and motivated full-time chef to join our busy hospitality team. This is a permanent full-time position (38 hours per week) offering stable hours and the opportunity to work in a fast-paced restaurant and café environment.

The successful applicant will play a key role in delivering high-quality meals, maintaining kitchen standards, and supporting menu development while ensuring excellent presentation and customer satisfaction.

Task & responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and present a variety of café meals and modern Australian dishes to a high standard.
  • Assist with menu planning and seasonal menu updates, including daily specials.
  • Monitor food preparation and ensure meals are produced with consistent quality, portion control, and presentation standards.
  • Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff during food preparation and service periods.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety (WHS) standards, including proper food handling and storage.
  • Monitor the quality of ingredients and finished dishes to ensure consistency in taste and presentation.
  • Assist with stock control, ordering supplies, and managing kitchen inventory while minimising food wastage.
  • Train and support junior kitchen staff and promote efficient kitchen practices.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of kitchen areas, equipment, and workstations.
  • Work collaboratively with front-of-house staff to ensure efficient service and customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare meals in accordance with customer dietary requirements where necessary.


Qualification & experience

Certificate IV in Kitchen Management (or equivalent)

Minimum 1 year of relevant full-time experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen

Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary practices

Excellent attention to detail in food presentation and service quality

Ability to work efficiently in a team environment while demonstrating initiative

Strong communication skills

Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude
