portion control and stock management.</li><li>Liaise with management regarding ingredient availability, menu requirements, food costs and kitchen operational requirements.</li><li>Assist with the development and preparation of daily specials and new menu items.</li><li>Maintain high standards of cleanliness and ensure kitchen equipment, preparation areas and workstations are maintained appropriately.</li><li>Safely operate and monitor the use of commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, grills, cooktops and other cooking equipment.</li><li>Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure efficient and timely food service.</li><li>Assist with food preparation and service for private functions, special events and other catering requirements.</li><li>Provide guidance and demonstrate appropriate cooking and food preparation techniques to junior kitchen staff where required.</li><li>May assist with selecting, inducting and training kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking procedures and hygiene practices.</li><li>May assist with freezing, preserving and other appropriate food preparation and storage processes where required.</li></ul> <h3>Qualification & experience</h3><ul><li>Minimum 2-3 years of relevant commercial kitchen experience, or a relevant qualification combined with appropriate industry experience.</li><li>A minimum of Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent relevant qualification.</li><li>Strong knowledge of commercial cooking techniques and food preparation methods.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to plan and organise food preparation and cooking activities.</li><li>Experience with menu planning and preparation of food in a commercial dining environment.</li><li>Understanding of food, ingredient and kitchen supply requirements.</li><li>Ability to monitor food quality throughout preparation and presentation.</li><li>Knowledge of food costing, portion control and minimising food wastage.</li><li>Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling practices.</li><li>Ability to work efficiently and maintain food quality during busy service periods.</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with management, kitchen staff and front-of-house staff.</li><li>Ability to demonstrate and communicate appropriate cooking techniques and procedures to other kitchen staff.</li><li>Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.</li><li>Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a professional kitchen team.</li><li>Reliable, professional and committed
