The role requires the ability to work efficiently during busy service periods and contribute positively to the overall kitchen operation. <h3>Benefits</h3><ul style="list-style-type:disc;"><li>Full-time employment with a minimum of 38 hours per week.</li><li>Competitive salary of $77,000–$83,000 per annum + superannuation.</li><li>Stable employment within an established hospitality business.</li><li>Supportive and professional working environment.</li><li>Opportunity to develop and strengthen culinary skills.</li><li>Exposure to a diverse range of food preparation and cooking techniques.</li><li>Staff discounts and other employment benefits may apply.</li></ul> <h3>Task & responsibilities</h3><ul style="list-style-type:disc;"><li>Prepare, portion and cook food in accordance with recipes, menus and customer requirements.</li><li>Prepare ingredients including meats, vegetables, sauces, spices and other food products.</li><li>Cook food using appropriate methods such as grilling, baking, frying, roasting and steaming.</li><li>Monitor cooking processes to ensure food is prepared to the required quality and standard.</li><li>Check the quality, freshness and suitability of ingredients before use.</li><li>Ensure appropriate portion sizes and presentation standards are maintained.</li><li>Assist with food preparation and mise en place before service.</li><li>Maintain adequate stock of prepared ingredients during service.</li><li>Assist with receiving, storing and rotating food supplies.</li><li>Follow food safety, hygiene and sanitation requirements at all times.</li><li>Maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen and food preparation area.</li><li>Minimise food wastage through effective preparation, storage and portion control.</li><li>Work cooperatively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and timely service.</li><li>Assist with kitchen opening, closing and cleaning procedures.</li><li>Follow workplace health and safety procedures and safely operate kitchen equipment.</li></ul> <h3>Qualification & experience</h3><ul style="list-style-type:disc;"><li>Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality or a related field.</li><li>Minimum 1–2 years of relevant full-time experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen or similar hospitality environment.</li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.</li><li>Experience preparing a variety of dishes in accordance with recipes and established standards.</li><li>Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and sanitation requirements.</li><li>Ability to work efficiently and maintain food quality during busy service periods.</li><li>Ability to follow recipes, portion requirements and food presentation standards.</li><li>Good communication and teamwork skills.</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a kitchen team.</li><li>Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays where required.</li></ul>
