<p>An established hospitality business in the Torres Strait, is seeking a friendly and reliable Hotel/Motel Receptionist to join its front office team on a full-time basis.</p><p>Position Overview:&nbsp;</p><p>The <strong>Hotel/Motel Receptionist</strong> will be the first point of contact for guests &nbsp;managing check-in and check-out, reservations, guest enquiries and front desk administration, and coordinating with housekeeping, restaurant and maintenance staff to ensure a high standard of guest service and smooth day-to-day operation of the property.</p><br><h3>Benefits</h3><ul><li>Competitive salary and opportunities for performance-based bonuses.&nbsp;</li><li>Career development and growth opportunities within the hospitality industry.&nbsp;</li><li>Access to health and wellness benefits.&nbsp;</li><li>Staff discounts on accommodation, meals and beverages.&nbsp;</li><li>Flexible working hours and a supportive work environment.&nbsp;</li><li>&nbsp;Paid time off and sick leave.&nbsp;</li><li>Work in a close-knit, community-focused team.&nbsp;</li><li>The unique lifestyle and cultural experience of living and working on Thursday Island</li></ul><br><h3>Task & responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Greet guests warmly and manage check-in and check-out procedures efficiently and accurately.&nbsp;</li><li>Handle phone, email and in-person enquiries, reservations and bookings using the property management system.&nbsp;</li><li>Process payments, manage cash handling and reconcile the front desk register at the end of each shift.&nbsp;</li><li>Provide guests with information on hotel facilities, local tours, transport and attractions around Thursday Island and the Torres Strait.&nbsp;</li><li>Liaise with housekeeping and maintenance staff to coordinate room readiness and resolve guest requests promptly.&nbsp;</li><li>Support the on-site restaurant and bar with bookings and guest coordination as required.</li><li>Maintain accurate guest records, daily reports and front office administration.&nbsp;</li><li>Respond to guest concerns and resolve complaints professionally, escalating where necessary.</li></ul><br><h3>Qualification & experience</h3><ul><li>Certificate II/III in Hospitality, Tourism or Accommodation Services, or equivalent</li><li>&nbsp;Proven experience in a front office, reception or customer service role, ideally within hotel or motel accommodation.&nbsp;</li><li>Sound computer literacy, including experience with property management systems (PMS) and point-of-sale software.&nbsp;</li><li>Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate, or willingness to obtain one.</li><li>Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to work a rotating roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays.&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a small team in a remote island location.&nbsp;</li><li>A friendly, professional manner and genuine enjoyment of guest service.</li></ul>
