The Chef will work closely with the kitchen and service team to deliver high-quality meals efficiently during busy service periods. <h3>Benefits</h3><ul style="list-style-type:disc;"><li style="text-align:justify;">Competitive salary package + superannuation.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Opportunities for career growth and professional development.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Supportive team environment.</li></ul> <h3>Task & responsibilities</h3><ul style="list-style-type:disc;"><li style="text-align:justify;">Plan, organize and coordinate food preparation and cooking activities in accordance with Spice Heaven’s menu, recipes and service requirements.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Prepare and cook a range of Indian and Asian dishes, including curries, tandoori items, biryanis, vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, breads and other menu specialities.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Prepare and handle meat, poultry, seafood, vegetables, herbs, spices and other ingredients using appropriate preparation and cooking techniques.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Monitor the quality, taste, consistency, portion size and presentation of dishes to maintain established restaurant standards.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Assist with menu planning, recipe development and determining ingredient quantities and food requirements for daily service.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Coordinate food preparation and cooking during busy service periods to ensure meals are prepared accurately and within required timeframes.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Monitor stock levels, inspect incoming ingredients and ensure food is stored appropriately to maintain freshness and quality.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Provide guidance to kitchen staff on food preparation, cooking methods, portion control and presentation.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety throughout all kitchen operations.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Maintain clean and organized preparation areas, cooking equipment, utensils and storage facilities, while minimizing food wastage.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Liaise with management and front-of-house staff regarding menu requirements, customer orders and service demands.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Assist in training kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking procedures, hygiene practices and safe use of kitchen equipment.</li></ul> <h3>Qualification & experience</h3><ul style="list-style-type:disc;"><li style="text-align:justify;">Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree in a closely related field, or an equivalent relevant qualification.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">At least three years of full-time or equivalent relevant experience as a Chef</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Demonstrated experience in planning, preparing and cooking a range of Indian and Asian cuisine, with the ability to maintain consistent quality, taste and presentation.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques, menu requirements, food quality control and kitchen operations.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling practices and the ability to maintain these standards in a commercial kitchen.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment and coordinate food preparation and cooking during busy service periods.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, as required by the restaurant.&nbsp;</li></ul>
