As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking and presenting a variety of dishes in accordance with the venue's menu, recipes and quality standards.You will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure food is prepared efficiently and consistently, particularly during busy lunch, dinner, weekend and function services.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen and takes pride in producing quality food. <h3>Benefits</h3><ul><li>Competitive salary of $80,000 – $82,000 plus superannuation.</li><li>Full-time employment with a well-established local hospitality venue.</li><li>Opportunity to work across a diverse and interesting menu.</li><li>Exposure to busy restaurant, bar, sports and function operations.</li><li>Opportunity to develop and broaden commercial cooking skills.</li><li>Supportive and professional kitchen environment.</li><li>Opportunity to contribute ideas to specials and menu development.</li></ul> <h3>Task & responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Prepare, cook and present dishes according to established recipes, menu specifications and presentation standards.</li><li>Prepare a range of modern Australian and contemporary pub-style dishes, including meat, seafood, pasta, pizza, salads and other menu items.</li><li>Prepare and cook steaks, chicken, seafood and other meat products to the required specifications.</li><li>Prepare sauces, gravies, dressings, marinades, stocks and other components required for menu items.</li><li>Prepare vegetables, salads, garnishes and other ingredients for service.</li><li>Assist with preparation of daily specials and seasonal menu items.</li><li>Follow recipes and portion-control requirements to maintain consistency and minimise food wastage.</li><li>Monitor the quality, freshness and condition of ingredients before and during food preparation.</li><li>Assist with receiving, checking and storing food deliveries.</li><li>Maintain appropriate stock levels of ingredients and advise the kitchen management of shortages or ordering requirements.</li><li>Ensure food is stored correctly and rotated in accordance with food safety requirements.</li><li>Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.</li><li>Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and sanitation throughout the kitchen.</li><li>Follow appropriate food safety procedures and temperature-control requirements.</li><li>Cater for busy lunch and dinner services while maintaining food quality and presentation.</li><li>Work efficiently during peak periods, weekends, public holidays and functions.</li><li>Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared and served within required timeframes.</li><li>Assist with catering for functions, events and group bookings.</li><li>Minimise food wastage through effective preparation, portion control and stock utilisation.</li><li>Maintain clean and organised preparation areas, cooking stations, refrigerators and storage areas.</li><li>Ensure all food preparation areas comply with workplace health and safety requirements.</li><li>Assist in developing and testing new dishes and menu items where required.</li><li>Provide input regarding food preparation methods, ingredient requirements and kitchen efficiency.</li><li>Assist other kitchen team members when required to ensure smooth service operations.</li></ul> <h3>Qualification & experience</h3><ul><li>Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality or a related field, or relevant experience.</li><li>Demonstrated at least 2-3 years of experience working as a Cook in a commercial kitchen.</li><li>Experience preparing a diverse range of meals in a busy restaurant, bistro, pub or similar hospitality environment.</li><li>Good knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and presentation.</li><li>Understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.</li><li>Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy services.</li><li>Strong organisational and time-management skills.</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a kitchen team.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality.</li><li>Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.</li></ul>&nbsp;
